Double Fishtail Splice

![]() Square off the ends of the billets that we are going to splice. It is extemely important that the belly is flat so that our bandsaw cuts will be paralell in the vertical plane. |
![]() Have your templates ready and extend your center line into the template so that you can see it later. |
![]() Darken the areas to cutout, creating mirror images. Then cut your templates out of the sheet of paper. |

![]() Get contact cement ready |
![]() Apply contact cement to the back of each template. And |
![]() Apply contact cement to each billet and allow to dry until tacky |
![]() Glue templates to billets carefully matching the center lines of the templates with those on the billets. Make sure your templates are aligned so that your cutouts will form a mirror-image, male and female. |
![]() Now measure 1 1/2" up from the end of the template and make a line across the billet. These will be our fades later on. |
![]() Mark the width of the fades and draw a line from the edge of the template to your fade width mark. |
![]() On the bandsaw, cut out the male template following the lines we created in the previous step. Test fit the pieces. We are now ready for Glue-Up! |
